- Abstract
The article discusses attrition as a strategic military approach or defeat mechanism in fighting insurgency and for attaining political objectives in some types of wars. The discussion focuses on the physical, material and moral aspects of war and how these relate to the strategy concepts of annihilation, attrition, and exhaustion. The operational and tactical levels of war are also discussed. Examples of military strategy are given.
