- Abstract
Ultrasonic assisted extraction using green solvents such as ethanol, water and hydro-ethanol (50/50) have been used to evaluate the separation of bioactive compounds from Annona squamosa (Custard apple) leaves. The investigation of Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy is being used to characterize bioactive substances. The hydro-ethanolic extract is rich in carboxylic acids, phytosterols and sugars such as arabinose, xylose and galactose, according to the bioactive substances screening results. When compared to other solvents such as water and ethanol, the binary mixture of hydro-ethanolic extract of leaves yielded a higher amount of extraction. Furthermore, the antioxidant activity of the extract was evaluated by DPPH (2, 2-Diphenyl -1- picrylhydrazyl) radical assay. The hydro-ethanolic (50/50) extract of leaves exceeded other solvent extracts in terms of antioxidant activity.
