- Abstract
The article discusses the controversy regarding the conclusion that copy number of the gene encoding C-C chemokine ligand 3-like 1 (CCL3L1) for HIV co-receptor influences the susceptibility of HIV infection and AIDS progression. This was relative to two new studies, one by T. J. Urban and colleagues, who report no connection of CCL3La gene copy number (GCN) with HIV viral load set point and disease progression. The study by T. Bhattacharya and colleagues that evauated CCL3La GCN is discussed.
