- Abstract
[Objective] To develop sustainable agriculture in Sichuan, the study on the topsoil structure and nutrient characteristics of grain fields in Sichuan was carried out. [ Method] A total of 180 representative sample sites were selected from 6 demonstration counties in Sichuan maize system and 6 key counties in institute-level cooperation for investigation and sampling, and their soil topsoil depth, bulk density and nutrient characteristics were analyzed, which were also compared with the soil topsoil depth, bulk density of 17 provinces in China in 2008 and the soil nutrient of 18 national pilot counties in Sichuan in 2005 to analyze the current situation of topsoil structure and the characteristics of soil nutrient changes in the past 20 years in Sichuan. [ Result] The average topsoil depth of grain field in the survey area was 17 cm, slightly higher than that of China in 2008 (16. 5 cm), but still below the minimum standard of farmland topsoil (25 cm). The average soil bulk density at 5 - 10 cm was 1. 39 g/ cm3, which was equivalent to that in China in 2008 ( 1. 39 g/ cm3 ), slightly higher than that in the southwest and south of China in 2008 ( 1. 37 g/ cm3 ), and higher than the suitable bulk density range of grain field soil ( 1. 10 - 1. 30 g/ cm3 ). The average soil bulk density at 20 - 25 and 35 - 40 cm was 1. 58 and 1. 61 g/ cm3, respectively, which was very hard. In addition, most of the districts and counties surveyed had low levels of organic matter and total nitrogen, which were mainly concentrated in the third and fourth levels, while other nutrients were above the middle level ( above the third level). Compared with the soil nutrients of 18 national pilot counties in Sichuan in 2005, the comprehensive soil fertility level of the province's had improved in the past 20 years, mainly reflected in the available phosphorus and available potassium, increased by 1. 38 and 1. 30 times respectively, from the third and fourth levels to the second level. [Conclusion] Shallow topsoil, compact structure, and low organic matter and total nitrogen, total phosphorus, total potassium still exist in Sichuan grain field. The study provides scientific basis for Sichuan grain fields to formulate precise strategies and scientific and technological breakthrough approaches for soil improvement and fertilizer improvement.
