- Abstract
This document is an editorial from the International Journal of Molecular Sciences titled "The Cytoskeleton and Its Binding Proteins as Mechanosensors, Transducers, and Functional Regulators of Cells." It discusses the importance of the cytoskeleton and cytoskeleton-binding proteins (CBPs) in regulating cellular functions and responding to physical and mechanical stimuli. Dysregulation of these interactions can lead to various diseases. The editorial introduces a special issue of the journal that includes five articles exploring different aspects of cytoskeletal biology and mechanotransduction, such as actin dynamics in skeletal myogenesis, the impact of mechanical stress on endothelial cells, the role of mechanotransduction in cardiomyocytes and cardiomyopathies, the significance of Fascin-1 in cancer cell migration and invasion, and the potential therapeutic target AVIL in rhabdomyosarcoma.
