- Abstract
The article reports on the essence of patent in technological progress. It offers information on a fluid-mechanics-inspired model for innovation dynamics that provides straightforward framework of push and drag terms in one dynamic equation making it a good vehicle for double-headed character of patents. It explains how the double-ratio tests aid in confirming and enriching significant intuitions when patents are most likely to promote technological progress.
