The article focuses on cases of dispersal of sacred cultural property with reference to the case of Hopi Indians of Arizona, in which exceptional collection built up between 1970 and 2000 by a French art lover were being auctioned by French auction house Néret-Minet and its prevention by the Association Survival International France. Topics discussed include admissibility of the action, issues of ownership and the group's right to take action.
