- Abstract
The article discusses a study based on the Equality of Educational Opportunity (EEO) study. The authors explain that the study examines the effects of schools as organizations. One of the findings of the study is that a student's family background is more important than school social composition and school resources for academic achievement. The study conducted by the authors applied a two-level hierarchical linear model (HLM) to measure the effects of school-level social composition, resources, and peer characteristics on ninth-grade student's verbal achievement. The article provides information on the study's research design and results.
