- Title
Internet Censorship Growing.
- Abstract
The article reports on a study which has revealed that nearly two-thirds of countries in the world, accounting for 80 percent of the world's population, restrict press freedom. The study also warns of increased efforts by many governments to restrict Internet access on the pretext of protecting the public from pornography, subversive material or violations of national security. The study which examined in each country the legal and administrative procedures affecting news media, the degree of political and economic influence on media content and actual cases of press freedom violations, was conducted by Freedom House, an international human rights group.
