- Abstract
The article focuses on an activity program conducted by the author of the article to make students excited about learning and to introduce the skills of observing and inferring. The author used this activity approach as a fun way to impart learning. The activity approach used by the author is titled as flash paper activity. In this activity, one has to take sheets of flash paper and cut them into 4 x 3 cm strips. Then these strips have to be put into sandwich bags, one strip per bag. One worksheet has to be photocopied for each student. One should have a lighter with a long tip, tea lights or votive candles , forceps, a centimeter ruler and safety goggles to conduct this activity. To conduct the activity, the author of the article, passed out the worksheet to the students and the students were asked to list the five senses on the back of their worksheet. The students wrote one paragraph explanation of the one sense they would choose to give up if they had to lose one. As an alternative, the students were also asked, that which sense they would rely upon the most and least and why people with sight or hearing disabilities are able to function by developing their other senses. The students' responses to these questions and further details of the activity are also given in the article.
