- Abstract
The article features the Canadian Coast Guard Ship (CCGS) "Amundsen," which is an Arctic research vessel operated by the Canadian Coast Guard. It is the research base for Canada's largest research project, the circumpolar flaw lead system study on the impact of climate change on the Arctic ecosystem. The researchers on board study the flaw leads, or polynyas, which are long watery gaps in the ice that open up when the mobile sea ice pulls away from the stationary coastal ice.
