- Abstract
A literary criticism is presented of the American novel "Death Comes for the Archbishop," by Willa Cather. The setting of the novel in the desert and its characters are described as is what the author calls the betweeenness or ambiguity about the novel. The author comments on the link between scenes of desert wandering that occur in the Bible and in Cather's book.
