- Abstract
The article talks about history of art, the presence of women in the field of art, and the works of art historian Linda Nochlin on it. Topics discussed include the feminist discourse in art and art history, which later evolved into feminism; the portrayal of heroic masculinity by mass media in the U.S.; and the prevalence of patriarchy in American society. Also mentioned are Nochlin's efforts to promote woman empowerment, Nochlin's views of war and its use to glorify masculinity, and the power relations in the society.
