INTRODUCTION: RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN ECONOMIC FORECASTING.
- Authors
Mitchell, James
- Abstract
The article features developments in the economic forecasting made by the world's leading academics. The first paper was done by Kevin Dowd wherein he made complementing studies that evaluates Bank of England's fan chart for inflation and evaluates the bank's gross domestic product (GDP) fan charts. Down finds that the institution's own assessment of the reliability of its forecasts are unreliable at short horizons but more reliable at longer horizons. The second paper made by Gianna Boero, Jeremy Smith and Ken Wallis introduces and analyses a new dataset while the third paper was made by Garrat and colleagues wherein they pick up data concerning uncertainty about both the appropriate forecasting models and its parameters.
