The article reports on developments concerning the world economy as of April 2006. It predicts the continued growth of the global economy, with the world gross domestic product rising by 4.8 percent in 2006 and 4.5 percent in 2007. The China's growing weight in the global economy is a key reason why interest rates have been unusually low. The article predicts the economic growth of the United States, Japan, and the European Union.
