- Title
THE JACOB STERN FAMILY OF ORANGE COUNTY AND HOLLYWOOD, A PICTURE STORY.
- Abstract
In the 1890's, Jacob Stern and his cousin, Joseph Goodman, operated a mercantile business with branches in several towns in Orange County, California. In 1904, Stern moved to Hollywood and opened a real estate office. His home and grounds occupied a five-acre site at Hollywood and Vine streets. His barn was leased by the forerunners of Paramount Studios in 1912 for production of the first feature-length motion picture, "The Squaw Man." The barn is a California Registered Landmark and is being restored as a motion picture museum.
