- Abstract
The article reports that Okinawa Branch of Naha-shi District court, Japan, ordered the government to pay $1.3 million to the residents of Futenma for physical and mental damage from noise from Marine Corps Air Station Futenma. The residents filed the case in November 2002 claiming that the government was responsible for the damages. Chief Judge Yoshimitsu Kawai said there was sufficient evidence to prove that the residents were exposed to noise that caused mental suffering.
