- Abstract
The article presents legal developments in marketing relating to the regulation of product characteristics, specifically credit terms and conditions of sale. The case of George Schafer v. c Corp. is discussed, involving the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, designed to provide consumer redress for deceptive warranty practices, and discrepancies in federal and state laws defining implied warranties. The details and findings of the case, its precedent and the implications for marketers are discussed.
