- Abstract
This article discusses the development of a network of Freemasons, a secret fraternal organization, in Guatemala during the latter half of the 18th century. The author comments on the possibility of the participation of Guatemalan politician Juan Bautista de Irisarri, as well as several of his friends who also held influential positions in the government, in Freemason societies. He also considers Irisarri's influence on his son, also a Guatemalan statesman and rumored Freemason, Antonio José de Irisarri.
