- Abstract
This article discusses the impact of digitized valuation on social order and explores the experiences of individuals who are subjected to these systems. The authors argue that understanding how experience is influenced by digitized valuation can provide insights into issues such as transparency, agency, and the subjective-objective divide. The article also highlights the political implications of these systems and emphasizes the need to consider the experiences of those affected by them. Using a case study of a predictive algorithm in a debt-collecting organization, the article examines how classifications generated by the algorithm lead to new hierarchical valuations of citizens and employees. Overall, the article suggests that studying the intersection of experience and digitized valuation can provide valuable insights into the emerging categories, roles, and processes of defining value.
