- Abstract
Upon the withdrawal of Russia from the South Caucasus after the Bolshevik Revolution and the defeat of the Ottoman Empire in the World War I, Armenians, who planned to establish a great state, faced with conflicting and inconsistent policies of the Allied Powers. Date and place of the Ottoman Empire signed the Treaty of Sevres; also a treaty was signed between the representatives of “Armenia” and The Principal Allied Powers (Britain, France, Italy and Japan). The Armenian historians’ reviews on this subject that ‘an additional protocol which guaranteed the religious, cultural and other freedoms’ with the Treaty of Sevres, are incomplete and incorrect. The treaty required Armenia “under the auspices of the League of Nations (LN) in five years except the extension right.” Moreover, thanks to the treaty, the Allied Powers would obtain a unilateral trade concession in the land that would be given to Armenia. The treaty signed between the Armenia and the Allied Powers didn’t enter into force thanks to the both achievements of the National Struggle Movement and Sovietization of Armenia. At this point, the military, financial and political realities came to the fore and the Allied Powers gave deceptive answers to the help requests of Armenians.
