- Abstract
The article presents an in-depth account of the assassination of King Henry IV of France on May 14, 1610. Introductory details are given outlining the popularity of the king as well as the political circumstances in motion during that year. Subjects then discussed include the attack of François Ravaillac upon the king in his coach, his capture and punishment, and the search for a conspiracy or plot by the French authorities. Several dissident groups with opposed or vied with the King's policies are mentioned but no direct connections to the assassination are named.
