- Abstract
Different investigations on the onset and maintenance of eating disorders have suggested a significant relationship between cognitive schemas and eating behavior pathologies. The aim of this research was to carry out a documentary review on the relationship between eating disorders and early maladaptive schemas; using the thematic review as methodology. The results show that anorexia nervosa can be associated with the schemas of defectiveness-shame and insufficient self-control, while obesity and binge eating are associated with the domains of disconnection-rejection and autonomy and poor performance.
