- Abstract
The Study aims at highlighting the current Situation of palm trees in North Sinai Governorate. This includes studying the factors affecting the productivity of the palm trees. Their cost in both the short and long runs. Returns and annual net return. The research has been adopted to achieve its objectives on the method of descriptive and quantitative analyses. The results showed the following: The palm area has decreased from about 10.1 thousand faddans in 2012 to about 9.1 thousand faddans in 2015. The total production of date palm in North Sinai estimated at about 17.2 thousand tons from fresh date in period 1996-2015. The . total area of palm trees was estimated at about 5.5 thousand faddans in Beer Elabd District but it was estimated at about 2.6 thousand faddans in ElArish District in the study period. The average of palm number per faddan was estimated at about 57 trees but it was estimated at about 51 trees in the study period. The total cost per faddan of palm trees was estimated at about 3.3 thousand LE in Beer Elabd District but it was estimated at about 3.5 thousand LE in El-Arish District in the same study period. The net revenue per faddan of palm trees was estimated at about 6.4 thousand LE in Beer Elabd District but it was estimated at about 4.7 thousand LE in El-Arish District in the same study period. The added value per faddan of palm trees was estimated at about 7.2 thousand LE in Beer Elabd District but it was estimated at about 5.2 thousand LE in El-Arish District in the same study period. The return of invested pound per faddan of palm trees was estimated at about 1.93 LE in Beer Elabd District but it was estimated at about 1.32 LE in El-Arish District in the same study period. The study showed that there were significant relationship between the production of palm and the following factors; the family size, experience of farmer, the quality of roads, collected or not collected trees, agriculture area, the age of the trees and the amount of manure. The optimum size of production reached about 5.8 ton but the maximized size of profits reached about 8.7 ton per faddan. The study set some recommendations which is concerning the development of production of palm trees and its productivity in North Sinai Governorate.
