- Abstract
The article presents an examination into the history of Mormon theology concerning a "Heavenly Mother." Details are given overviewing the existence and confirmation of some kind of female deity within the Mormon Church's teachings since the 1830s, citing statements from various church leaders throughout the 20th century. A survey of church documents and teachings is then provided, describing the existence, characteristics and roles held by the Heavenly Mother according to the church's official doctrines.
