- Title
CAGED CATS: PRIVATE OWNERSHIP OF LIONS AND TIGERS.
- Authors
ADELE YOUNG
- Abstract
The article discusses the problem of uneven requirements for private ownerships of lions and tigers in the U.S., suggesting the need to pass the Big Cats and Public Safety Protection Act to eliminate private ownership of big cats except for zoos, sanctuaries and universities. It examines federal legislation for big cat ownerships, the role of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) in the regulation of endangered species like tigers, and state laws governing exotic cat ownership.
