- Abstract
An essay is presented on the historical interpretation of the evacuation of children from Northern Greece during the 1944-1949 Greek Civil War. Emphasis is given to the role of the conflict in both Greek and Macedonian collective memory. Details on the Communist Party's evacuation of children to Eastern Europe and the Greek government's evacuation of children to child cities, or camps, in other regions of Greece are presented. Other topics include nationalism and child soldiers.
