- Abstract
This article presents information on a survey conducted in April and May 1955, on the incidence of tulip eelworm within the Holland Division of Lincolnshire, England. Too little was known to plan a detailed survey which would give quantitative information on intensity of infestation or on degree of damage, but it was considered that an extensive survey, based on the presence or absence of infestation in each stock, would probably provide the necessary data on which to base recommendations for future action. More detailed observations were made on a few farms to obtain information which would help in future planning of sampling techniques. To estimate the extent of spread outside Lincolnshire, advisory entomologists were asked to co-operate in a country-wide reconnaissance survey, which involved examining as many tulip stocks as possible grown in nurseries, public parks and gardens in all parts of the country.
