- Abstract
The article presents the story Chinese Wen Xiongfei who was of Xinning ancestry but born in San Francisco's Chinatown in 1800s. He was the eldest son of Wen He, owner of the Wo Kee lumberyard. After the 1906 earthquake when Mon Hing Yat Po newspaper moved temporarily to Los Angeles, Wen had to quit attending university classes to become assistant editor and translator at the Chinese Free Press. For some unknown reason Wen was no longer with Chinese Free Press by 1908.
