- Abstract
Zinc oxide due to the presence of intrinsic defects makes it possible to doping with other materials, such as bismuth. The BZO (zinc oxide doped with bismuth) prepared via microwave-assisted hydrothermal synthesis (MaHS) was studied for its dopant percentage and morphological characterization. The products were characterized via XRD, SEM, and PL; band gap calculations by transmittance spectroscopy. The results indicate that BZO nanostructures were obtained with crystallite sizes ranging from 5,82 to 8,37 nm. The same flower like structure was formed with diferents dopants. PL demonstrates that defects increase with bismuth doping. The band-gap of 2,79-3.3 eV has potential use in photodegradation applications.
