- Abstract
The serious problem of sedentary behavior in children and its consequences for health has caused that the experts have claimed in recent years an increase of more hours per week of Physical Education (PE). Several proposals have tried to reduce the effects of physical inactivity through interventions that aimed to increase the levels of physical activity in school-age students. Thus, this paper presents a project for implementing an interdisciplinary teaching method of mathematics and PE with elementary school students. Based on the literature, it is believed that the implementation of an integrated teaching unit between mathematics and PE might improve mathematical learning. On the other hand, it is expected that this methodology will help to increase the weekly physical activity levels of school children. In this way, the educational administrations would have a new measure to promote the daily practice of physical activity during the school day.
