- Abstract
We aimed, in our experiment at evaluating the effect of boracic fertilization in sunflower (01 Catissol cultivar) cultivation, in the Tabuleiro de Russas irrigation district. The experiment was conducted in randomized blocks with five treatments and five replicates/treatment, totaling 25 experimental units. The treatments consisted of applying 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 kg ha-1 of boron in the conventional way, at planting. We evaluated the characteristics related to production (one thousand achenes weight, the average mass of achenes per head, potential achene yield, achene oil content and potential oil yield). The data of the evaluated variables was subjected to analysis of variance by the F test, and when significant effect was observed, the data was compared by regression analysis. All variables analyzed showed statistical inference for the examined boron doses, except for the interaction between plant height and stem diameter and the evaluation periods, as well as the one thousand achenes mass and achene oil content. The plant height and stem diameter were significantly influenced by the boron dose and by the time of data collection, but not by the interaction of each variable with the time of data collection. The 4 kg ha-1 boron dose maximized the average achene mass, the potential achene yield and the potential oil yield.
