- Abstract
National Architecture Renaissance that developed within the Turkish nationalism ideals, reflects a compilation of Seljukid and Ottoman architecture although its point of origin is the eclectic architectural manner in Europe. The young Turkish architects who had completed their education between the years 1908-1918, interiorized the National Architecture Renaissance that had continued from 1908 to 1930's, primarily as a Turkish "national" genre. National Cinema and the National Library buildings that are the characteristic samples of the genre at issue in İzmir, in addition to having a significant place in the cultural life of İzmir both at the time it was built and today, maintain their privilege in the urban fabric. In this study, the mentioned buildings will be identified detailly in company with drawings and photographs, their significance in the cultural environment and their ideologic figurativeness will be propounded.
