- Abstract
Objective: to analyze the mental health condition of nursing professors and graduate students in the context of the Coronavirus Disease pandemic. Method: the study was conducted with 32 Nursing professors and 52 graduate students from UFPE, Recife campus, through four questionnaires (sociodemographic, DASS-21, EMC-19, and an instrument on academic life in graduate studies), remotely administered via Google Forms®. Results: among the professors, 81.3% were female, 96.9% had internet access at home, with 75% having good quality access, and 87.1% adapted well to the remote format. About 34% of professors experienced stress, 18.7% anxiety, and 9.4% depression, ranging from mild to extremely severe. Most graduate students were women, married, or living with a partner. A high percentage of stress (48.1%), anxiety (42.3%), and depression (48.1%) was observed, with degrees ranging from mild to extremely severe. Conclusion: the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the changes in the teaching-learning format had varied impacts on the mental health of the study population, leading to depressive, anxious, and predominantly stressful symptoms.
