- Abstract
The objective of this work is to develop a map of susceptibility to hillside movements in Tabasco, Mexico, through the use of Geographic Information Systems and the analysis of factors such as slope, land and vegetation use, and lithology, to identify areas susceptible to hillside movements. The results show a total of 1,006.64 km2 of areas susceptible to landslides with moderate, high, and very high categories in Tabasco, which is concentrated in 95.6% in the municipalities of Tenosique, Tacotalpa, Huimanguillo, Macuspana, and Teapa. Thus, the morphogenetic environment of the mountain range is the area that has the greatest susceptibility to these events, which poses a latent risk to the populations of these areas. Thus, the results obtained provide a basis for understanding these phenomena, research, and decision-making at the municipal and state level on related issues.
