The article discusses diversity in American medical education in relation to the views of black and minority medical students and faculty members, and it mentions a minority tax which encompasses the additional responsibilities that are placed on minority faculty members to achieve diversity. The author's experiences as a black medical student, medical resident, and physician in the U.S. are examined, along with self-awareness.
