The author contends that how physicians interact with their patients impact a patient's outcome and self-confidence. Topics discusses include ways that physicians create experiences for their patients, the author's first interactions with patients during the days following the September 1, 2001 terrorist attacks and his belief that physicians' success is only as good as their ability to appreciate and adapt to the individual needs of their patients.
