- Authors
Clayton, William J.; Hoffman, Heather M.
- Abstract
In early September of 2009, a survey on Knife Lake in northeastern Minnesota identified numerous exposed high-quality metamorphosed Knife Lake Siltstone outcrops. Ample evidence of quarry and stone tool production activity provisionally dates to the Late Paleoindian period. Workshop areas were also identified throughout the survey area, some of which were located up to a 1/4 mile from present shorelines. Prior to the 2009 survey, only one significant site of this nature had been located on the United States side of Knife Lake.
