- Abstract
The article examines the relationship between the practices of citizen participation in urban planning and participation as economy. It defines participation and outlines an understanding of practice theory to understand participation as an element of human action and social change. The economies constituted by the built environment production, how participation is accounted, marginalised or hidden in relation to J. K. Gibson-Graham's concept is also explored.
