The authors offers a commentary on belief systems in psychotherapy. The author's consideration of belief systems in psychology was triggered by a session with one of his patients and a study by the Baylor Religious Survey. Over the years, he has observed the development of an interface between religion and psychology. Differences in belief systems are important to reflect respect for those who differ and to think through ways in which these may have adaptive significance.
