- Abstract
The essay presents a profile of the U.S. shoe manufacturing company TOMS, the memoir of its founder Blake Mycoskie, and the firm's identity with regard to social enterprise. Topics addressed include the self-presentation depicted in Mycoskie's book "Start Something That Matters," how corporate identity and the assumed social responsibility of businesses interact, and implications of such conspicuous giving on popular attitudes of corporate personhood.
