- Authors
Shafer, Keri M; Valente, Anne Marie
- Abstract
The article discusses the findings of the QUALIREHAB study, which examined the effectiveness of a structured, hybrid cardiac rehabilitation program for patients with congenital heart disease (CHD). The study included 142 patients aged 13-25 years and found that markers of fitness improved after 12 weeks of the program, but were not sustained at 12 months. However, health-related quality of life (HRQOL) significantly improved at 1 year, including physical functioning and social functioning. The study highlights the importance of addressing social determinants of health and providing comprehensive support for CHD patients.
