- Abstract
This article explores the history of radio broadcasts featuring the Reverend Charles E. Coughlin on the WJR radio station in Detroit, Michigan, in the 1920s. It begins with the effort of Coughlin to ask for help from station manager Leo Fitzpatrick to raise operating funds for his parish. It then details the controversy caused by the radio broadcasts. It cites the allegations that Coughlin is anti-Semitic and pro-Nazi. In addition, the article notes that censorship was the cause of the decision by Coughlin to drop the broadcasts.
