- Abstract
The article deals with Victorian-era food-service implements which served as powerful tokens of the actual provision of care that happened within the sickroom during the period. Topics covered include the depiction of such implements in several literary works including Florence Nightingale's "Notes on Nursing" and Victorian-era accounts of sick care explored by Lucas Malet's novel "The History of Sir Richard Calmady."
