- Abstract
The article discusses the work, thought, and heritage of French author François Hédelin, more commonly known as abbé d'Aubignac, with particular focus given to use of prose in his work, and to the thoughts of relevant literary experts on the matter, including Jacques Scherer. In particular, it discusses the composition of the well-known tragedies "La Pucelle d'Orléans," "La Cyminde ou les deux victimes," and "Alcestis (Alceste)." Topics mentioned include the use of prose in the literature and the relationship between poetry and literature in general, and the history of French literature.
