- Abstract
Recent developments in Latin America, the Philippines, Haiti, etc., indicate that the traditional image of a monolithic Catholicism is eroding. Data from a French survey and three other surveys show strong correlations on traditional items characteristic of the pre-Vatican II sub-culture. It is this model of a visible, institutional church that is rejected in the French sample. Social involvement and the rejection of the traditional doctrine of the realms seem the major characteristics of the "invisible Catholicism."
