- Abstract
The article presents a case study of the rare cause of small bowel ischemia after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass in a 29-year-old pregnant patient who consulted an emergency department for sudden onset of intense abdominal pain. The operating surgeon considered venous ischemia and laparotomy was closed. An abdominal computed tomography with contrast injection and angiography was performed showing occlusion of the superior mesenteric artery, with signs of bowel ischemia and no venous thrombosis.
