- Abstract
The article discusses the achievements of scholar Gerard of Cremona who in the 12th century translated numerous scientific works from Greco-Arabic into Latin. Gerard is credited with translating the works of Galen, Rhazes, Albucasis, thereby reviving European medical learning in the 13th century. Despite his accomplishments, there are criticisms about his translation technique. Some translations were allegedly too literal and failed to relay the correct meanings of Arabic idioms.
