- Abstract
The article describes the case of a 14-year-old boy who was diagnosed with hemilateral Proteus syndrome, an unusual, congenital hamartomatous disorder with significant cerebellar tonsillar herniation. Topics include the criteria for diagnosing Proteus syndrome, its cutaneous manifestations, and the common sites of adipose tissue abnormalities such as head, neck, groin or legs. It also describes noncutaneous manifestations of skeletal overgrowth such as scoliosis and long-bone overgrowth.
