- Authors
Rao, Radhika
- Abstract
The article discusses the ethics of compensation for egg donors in human embryonic stem cell research (hESCR) in the U.S. The country's current guidelines prohibit the payment to egg donors to prevent coercion, commodification, and commercialization of their bodies. In so doing, the guidelines also indicate to reject propertization of human body but fail to see that the companies and universities that fund the research are all free to profit which contradicts the guidelines' objectives.
